The Print as a Form of International Diplomacy
Alicia Candiani is a practicing artist and cultural activist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is the founder and current director of Proyecto’ace, an Artist-in-Residence International Program, and the president of Fundación‘ace para el Arte Contemporáneo. She exhibits widely and her work has received several major international awards including the International Print Network Krakow-Vienna-Oldenburg Prize in Germany and the Turner Excellence in Arts Award in USA. Candiani has been artist-in-residence, visiting artist, guest professor, and lecturer at numerous and prestigious institutions all over the world including UNESCO, the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., USA and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. She has been appointed as a curator/juror in prints biennials in China, Russia, Hungry, Slovenia, Serbia, the United States, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Canada, Spain, Egypt, Russia, Bulgaria and Czech Republic. She initiated and conducted several international printmaking projects, the most recent being Crossover (2013).
